depends what has he been chewing on? spray his gums with salt water twice a day for the next 2 or 3 days, if the gums still look white or swollen after the three days of salt spray go to the vet.

well actually i forgot to put
he is 2 years old and when i was playing tug o war with him he yelped really loudly and i checked his mouth and he was bleeding... maybe he loosend a tooth? idk but he wont stop messing with it..

still spray it with salt water for right now. can you pry open his mouth and try to see if any of his teeth are lose? he might have to get the tooth pulled, if its lose take him to the vet they may have to pull it

There may have been a dental problem there before the tug of war thing. Dogs love tug of war, and it would take pretty violent tug to dislodge the tooth of a healthy dog. Does he eat and drink normally?
Hopefully a tooth won't have to be pulled, maybe with proper treatment it can be firmed up.

Sound like your dog got gum disease .I would take the dog to the vet to see if that is the case .

What breed is your dog? My dog is a Shih Tzu and he started loosing some of his adult bottom teeth at age 3 1/2 and now he's 7. His vet said he sees this problem all the time. It's a breed thing. Some purebred Shih Tzus are an acception to the rule, but most have this problem. I thought it was because he chewed so hard on a rawhide bone. The vet said that that would'nt have knocked the teeth loose. So, if you have a breed that suffers from something like this, don't be alarmed if he starts losing a few teeth soon. Bentley's vet said it happened to him because his back teeth were moving toward the front, causing his front bottom teeth to pop out.

Unless you are brushing your dogs teeth, most dogs will start to show signs of dental disease. Early signs are red/inflammed gums, eventually progressing to tartar build up, as tartar continues to build the gums will move away from the teeth allowing bacteria to travel down to the tooth roots and potentially causing bad infections/abscesses.
So, it is possible playing tug of war has irritated those gums that are starting to become unhealthy.
