Try giving your dog a bath using Dawn dish washing soap, it will help for a while.

Dawn soap will only temporarily rid your pet of live fleas. Unfortunately the majority of your problem is the eggs that the fleas lay in the environment, which then turn into larvae...then fleas again. People think that if you can't see the fleas the problem is fixed....but not quite so.
Best bet is to get Advantage or a similar product from your vet that will help break the flea cycle at all stages and not just a band-aid solution such as flea baths.

Kechara gave you good advice, but I wanted to add on a little. My husband and I go fishing up country a lot and even though they have been given a flea/tick control (Advantage) every time we come back to camp I brush both the dogs and particularly pay attention to the face area and behind and around the ears and nose.

I agree with VetTech. I've had dogs for many years, and always had flea and tick problems. I tried everything. It was a blessing when I found out about Advantix. My dogs have had no fleas or ticks since and have had no ill side effects whatsoever.

I just want to say "If it isn't broke, don't fix it!" If you find a good flea preventative, stick with it.

We used Frontline Plus. When it ran out, we got a good deal on K9-Advantix so we switched. BIG MISTAKE!!! It didn't work on my dog at all. He would come in and have fleas on him. Luckily, they have a money back guarantee so we sent it back and got Frontline Plus again.

So, when it comes to medications and stuff, IF you can afford to stick with what your dog is accustomed to using and it's working, don't switch brands. In other words, like I said earlier: "If it isn't broke, don't fix it!"
