I have an English Bulldog that destroys everything he gets in his mouth the only exception has been a Nylabone they are great and tough and very safe for him to chew even when we aren't watching him this is the only toy that he cannot destroy he has nylabones that he has had for almost a year with daily chewing
The only toy my dogs have not been able to destroy are Antlers. Yup, real Antlers. Hard to find but worth the search. I got mine at the local Humane Society.
be careful with the nylabones because my pit bull chipped her teeth on those so my vet told me to stop using them.even though the nylabones are harder to tear up,it damages their teeth. We often forget about the dental care of our pets
I have had large dogs all my life, and we always give them shin bones from a cow that have been flavored...we get them at Blaines Farm and Fleet, Wal-mart......we still have some from five years ago that they still knaw on....they are reallly hard...anywhere from 8-10 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter.....and antlers, I have seen squirrel knaw through in seconds....I think they splinter...I have Gold Labradors and they have 400 lbs of pressure in their jaws...don't do rawhide bones they eat them and I think I have heard they can cause blockages in dogs.....
we also teach them to retrieve floppy frizbees, by throwing one and keeping the other to assure that he brings back the other one....hold it up and tell him to bring the other one and don't throw it til he does retrieve it....the toys are the frizbees and are put up when the come in the house....otherwise they chew them up....play is out side and I never let my dogs out without supervision....get the play done and the pottying done and go inside....three or four times a day...play is related to going potty so it all works out....

heres where you can get the floppie frizbees....http://www.sitstay.com/dog/supplies/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=13289&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=13285&top_category= wal-mart doesn't have them anymore..
It's been said many times, but I'll say it again. Never give dogs bones that can splinter. Chicken and pork are the worst. And as has been mentioned, dogs have strong teeth and a powerful bite--but their teeth can be chipped.
Just by accident I found on clearance a Kong Wubba. I have a 10 mo old lab and have the same problem. Tennis balls, knotted ropes, anything that would go in his mouth, he would destroy. And I'm not totally comfortable with him having the Nyla bones because he was able to break apart the Nyla Double Action Chew. This Konga Wubba reminds me of an octopus. It is a really tough squeaky type ball wrapped in an extremely durable fabric, with a few strips of fabric that attached to the ball. He has tried and tried to break these down, but they look just like when I bought them. And he loves them too, he usually has one with him at all times. And with the type of fabric they use, I have been able to just rinse it off in the sink when it gets dirty. I got mine on clearance at Tractor Supply co. for like $3 but I have seen them in pet stores for around $10.
The simple truth is, there is no such thing as an indestructible dog toy! If you have a dog that is determined to chew up everything, there is nothing he can't eventually tear up! However, there are long-lasting durable chew toys. Nylabones are safe for MOST dogs, but yes, if you have a super-tough chewer, they can fracture a tooth. Same with any of the bone-type toys (sterilized beef bones...one of my Great Danes chipped a tooth on one, and she's not normally a powerful chewer), or the hard plastic toys. The Kong-type toys are pretty safe, and they come in various strengths of durabily: red Kongs are the norm, black Kongs tougher, and Blue Kongs are the toughest but only available through a vet, or for Police/Working dogs.
